How The AcrySof ReSTOR Lens Works

Your ability to quickly focus on objects at varying distances diminishes as you age. It is because of this that you may require reading glasses or bifocals in your later years. The AcrySof ReSTOR IOL is surgically implanted by Dr. Kleiman or Dr. Evangelista to permanently and dramatically improve vision for all ranges of distance.

The power behind the ReSTOR IOL is the apodized diffraction technology. This technology provides a gradual tapering of diffractive steps from the middle of the lens to the outer edge. This delivers a smooth transition across the spectrum of focal points, allowing you to easily see at virtually all distances.

At each step in the diffraction, there are minute changes that redirect the light passing through the lens. Because of this, the ReSTOR IOL is capable of bending light to hit the optimal focal point located on your retina no matter where your eyes are focused. What’s that mean for you? Great vision that can eliminate or reduce your need for reading glasses or bifocals.

The Results

According to recent studies pertaining to the AcrySof ReSTOR IOL, 4 out of 5 participants reported never needing glasses following cataract surgery in both eyes. Compare this to the 1-in-10 success rate for monofocal lenses and you can see just how effective the ReSTOR IOL can be.

In the same study, nearly 94% of participants also stated that they were so satisfied with the results that they would be willing to get the ReSTOR IOL implant again.
